Villa de Leyva

Mar 8-16, 2025
Mar 29 - Apr 6, 2025

Villa de Leyva was founded in 1572 in the Zaquencipá Valley, part of the territory of the Muisca indigenous peoples, and has witnessed the history of Latin America, from pre-Columbian times, through the conquest, the colonial era, to the struggles for independence. Its houses and streets are an architectural and cultural legacy from each of these moments.

Villa de Leyva is located in the heart of Boyacá, a department that, due to its challenging mountain passes and high altitude, is the birthplace of great Colombian cyclists and one of the epicenters of cycling in Latin America.

  • Cycle at an altitude of over 2,100 meters along the roads of Boyacá that shaped the first great Colombian cyclists.
  • 9 days, 8 nights in the best accommodations available in our Villa
  • 5 bike rides, each with an average of 50 km (31 mi) and 600 meters (1.970 ft) of positive elevation gain, just hard enough to enjoy the route, saving time and energy to experience the village.
  • Begin your rides in an almost desert landscape and in a matter of kilometers enjoy the incredible scenery of the Andean forests.
  • Delve into the heart of Villa de Leyva, one of the most beautiful cultural and historical heritage towns in Colombia, nestled in the heart of the world’s longest mountain range: the Andes.
  • Visit the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, a jewel of subterranean engineering, and the village of Egan Bernal, champion of the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia.
  • Walk through the Iguaque Flora and Fauna Sanctuary, one of Colombia’s National Parks with a páramo and Andean Forest ecosystem.
  • Day 1: arrival in Bogota, technical briefing, and welcome dinner.
  • Day 2: ride through the Sabana de Bogotá to the El Sisga dam.
  • Day 3: round trip from Villa de Leyva to Chiquinquirá with a stop in the crafts village of Ráquira.
  • Day 4: hike in the Iguaque Flora and Fauna Sanctuary.
  • Day 5: fullness and rest day, with an optional short ride for those who still have strength in their legs.
  • Day 6: ride to Moniquirá, the town that smells like bocadillo, the food par excellence of the ‘escarabajos’.
  • Day 7: Explore in depth Villa de Leyva, one of the most beautiful cultural and historical heritage towns in Colombia, situated in the heart of the world’s longest mountain range: the Andes.
